USA - 6 Willamette Valley , Oregon Pinot Noir for $349.00
" I would pick out Oregon in the New World for Pinot Noir, because of its elegance. Growers understand that Pinot is not Syrah. If the winemaker is good, and if they work hard in the vineyard, there is great potential." Arnaud Mortet, Domaine Denis Mortet, extract taken from the just released Decanter Magazine Pinot Noir the new pretenders.
*****Due to the limited quantity of the Cristom we have included one bottle of your selection subject to stock with the 6 pack offer.
A medium pitched nose of briar, pinot and raspberry fruit with violet hints dissolves into rich, delicious and very round flavors that offer solid concentration and finish with really lovely depth. This is not particularly structured but I really like the breadth of flavor and the impact as there is a certain robustness here that does not prevent the overall impression from offering a certain elegance. In a word, impressive. 91/2009+ BURGHOUND Alan Meadows Issue 28 October 2007
or - 2005 Cristom Louise Pinot Noir - A ripe red fruit nose combines notes of red pinot, cranberry, raspberry and a hint of vegetal that leads to equally ripe, rich, round and opulent flavors that have a lush mouth feel and while the oak treatment is not overt, it can be picked up on the mouth coating finish. 89/2009+ BURGHOUND
or - 2005 Cristom Marjorie Pinot Noir - An expressive and relatively elegant nose of briar, raspberry and blueberry aromas nuanced by hints of earth and underbrush give way to fresh, cool and delicious flavors that offer an attractive mouth feel as there is both density and precision, all wrapped in a moderately long finish. The only nit at present is that the flavor profile, while not one-dimensional, is offering limited breadth. This may come with time in bottle as there is good underlying material and the ba lance to age. We¶ll see how it develops. 89/2010+ BURGHOUND *****
Clear and vibrant, this wine has a beautiful dark color and aromas of mixed berries, earth, smoke, violets, Asian spices and minerals. In the mouth, the wine mirrors the aromatics with a succulent texture and good acidity. As the finish unfolds, the individual characteristics of the wine unify and augment one another. Beautifully balanced between richness and power, the wine possesses amazing depth and purity.
2006 Elk Cove Pinot Noir – Willamette Valley, Oregon (1 bottle) RRP $54.00
91 Pts. "Richly ripe when first poured, this gathers focus with air. Its stalwart plum flavors develop a limpid clarity in the center, a pure fruit moment that gives way to a fleshy, savory finish. It has the savory layered notes to pair with coq au vin." Wine & Spirits (March, 2008)
2006 Evesham Wood Pinot Noir – Willamette Valley, Oregon (1 bottle) RRP $38.00
"A deeply pitched nose of briar, ripe red and blue berry fruit and a hint of earth merges into round, rich and supple favours that possess an attractive mouth feel as there is good definition and mid palate fat without losing the sense of focus on the moderately long finish. 89" Burghound 28th Oct 2007
2006 Evesham Wood Le Puits Sec Pinot Noir (1 bottle) RRP $65.00
There is fine balance and overall, this is a lovely wine that has more to offer than just beguiling fruit flavours. Lovely and definitely worth a look. 90 Burghound 28th Oct 2007
