The Diletti family owned Castle Rock Estate Winery located on the northeast face of the Porongurup mountain range, consistently produces stylish Rieslings and typically good Pinots. Rob Diletti who has been making the wines on the estate sice 2000 beieves the cool vintage of 2006 with a lateness of ripening has contributed to the excellent structure and flavour developement for the pinot noir. Ranking this wine as his best pinot to date.
Vibrant and deep red colour. Quintessential Pinot Noir. A complex combination of strawberry and cherry fruit beautifully balanced with spicy vanillan oak characters. The bouquet is completed with a slight gaminess. The palate is lively and vibrant with the Pinot Fruit characters giving a lovely richness on the front palate. This is backed beautifully with subtle French oak and balanced and supple tannins. The wine is well structured by fine acidity giving a tight and long finish.
Just released the 2006 has already been awarded 3 golds which is a strong tally for a WA Pinot.
Gold at the Royal Perth Wine show and Hobart and won 'Best Pinot Noir ' trophy at the Royal Adelaide Wine Show.
