Chardonnay, although early ripening, develops strong varietal flavours in Margaret River. The juice is 50% fermented in new French oak barriques. The young wine then spends approximately six months maturing in barrel. It has an intense aroma of varietal (white peach and melon) and wood characters, with strong and complex flavours on the long palate. The powerful fruit flavours complemented with the highest quality new oak give the wine an attractive fullness and softness. Several of our Chardonnay's have been included in James Halliday's 'The Weekend Australian' Top 100 wines and a number have scored over 90 points, including the 2006 (96 points) The 2002 (James Halliday - 97 points) was chosen to represent Australia in the Tri-Nation Challende. Due to its powerful flavour we suggest it will be excellent with a range of flavoursome seafood and other white meat dishes. As the wine ages its richness will intensify.
